She was united in marriage to Washington Rector in the year 1840 in the fall of 1849 they with their family moved to Ohio having made the trip in wagons. They settled near Irville, Muskingum County after three years moved to Coshocton County where they lived six years. Then came to Licking County where she has since resided. Her husband preceded her in death, March 1893. She was the mother of eleven children, 6 having preceded her to rest. 42 grandchildren, death having claimed two of these; 64 great grandchildren. As she died she ever lived, “Happy in the Lord.” She chose her own text “Blessed are they who die in the Lord” and requested to be buried in white which is a symbol of the purest of purity. Her favorite hymns were also used a particular favorite, “ All is Well” the beautiful words of this hymn having been a comfort to her through the many years she lived. Realizing the end to be very near, she opened her eyes to her children and friends who were at her bedside and said: “All is Well.” Then sweetly sank to rest. Her funeral was held at the M. P. Church, Hanover, Ohio, Friday morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by her pastor Elder U. G. Porter. Despite the severe cold weather a large number of people gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Brief services were also held at the Pleasant Hill Church. REF: Newark Tribune January 1915 Mrs. Elizabeth Rector Mrs. Elizabeth Rector died on Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Nutter, two and one half miles east of Hanover, after a brief illness due to old age. She was aged 95 years at the time of her demise. Her husband preceded her to the grave by 22 years. Those who are left to mourn their loss are five children, Adam of Perryton, George W., J.D. and Mrs. John Hitchcock of Irville, besides the grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock, standard time, from the Hanover M. P. church. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. REF: Newark Tribune Jan 27, 1915 .
