From the “Bellefontaine Republican”, Bellefontaine, Ohio
07 Oct 1870	On Oct 6th of liver complaint, Philo Dorwin, aged 73 years 2 
months 21 days. Born in New Haven, Vt., he served in the War of 1812 and was at 
the Battle of Plattsburgh. In 1823 he joined the Congregational Church of 
Vermont; removed to Miami County, Ohio and then to Loganville in 1845; came to 
Bellefontaine in 1852.
