From the “Bellefontaine Republican”, Bellefontaine, Ohio
13 Mar 1874	On Mar 6th, Father Lemuel Liles, aged 95 years. Born in North 
Carolina in 1779, removed to New Orleans in his youth; removed in 1812 to 
Tennessee and joined the service during the War of 1812;  was a pensioner; in 
1814, married Hannah Dearing and settled in Ross Co., Ohio; in 1817, joined the 
M.E. Church; in 1824 became a licensed minister; in 1829 settled on his farm in 
Logan Co.; his wife died in 1853 leaving 18 children; married his present wife 
in 1855; she survived him. Oldest member of the Huntsville Charge of the Central 
Ohio Conference.
