Mrs. Almira Hathaway, the aged mother-in-law of Commissioner C.W.Smith, 
accompanied her son-in-law H.A.Dean to his home in Taunton, Mass., a few weeks 
ago to make her home with her daughter for awhile. On Sunday May 20, she was 
stricken with paralysis and on Monday May 28 died aged 82 years past. Mrs. 
Hathaway had resided for more than sixty years in Logan county near West 
Mansfield and her remains were brought to her old home where funeral services 
were held and they were then interred in the West Mansfield cemetery on Friday 
of last week. She was one of the pioneers of that section and a woman greatly 
beloved by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
