Thurs. June 7, 1894 page 6 Magnetic Springs Lester Rudolph Jorden, was born in Middleburg, Logan County, Oh. Dec. 11th, 1848, and moved with his parents to this vicinity when only three years old, and died at his home on May Street[Magnetic Springs] June 1st, 1894, aged 45 years, 5 months and 20 days. He was married to Lydia Bigelow, February 24th, 1875. To this union were born 5 children, three boys and two girls, the first two were boys and have preceded the father to the spirit land, the bereft wife and the remaining three children are left to mourn the loss of a husband and father. The deceased never joined any church but was of the Universalist faith. His sickness was cancer of the stomach and was of long standing. His last illness was very painful but he bore it patiently and gradually went down till the lamp of life went out. From a human stand point it does seem that Mr. Jorden could not have been called away at a time when his relation to his family was more important or his fatherly counsel more essential. To the grief stricken wife and children we cherish the fond hope that all the dear ones who were bound together by the ties of love and consanguinity may meet again beyond the dark regions of death in the land of perpetual bliss, on whose blissful shore the shades of death never gather. Sunday at 2 o'clock simple services were held by the frineds as a token of respect to the departed one, after which the order of the Knights of Pythias took charge and was buried with due respect in honor of that most noble order. The remains were conveyed by Undertaker Bigelow to the beautiful cemetery at Bethlehem and laid in the grave to await the trumpet sound.
