From the “Bellefontaine Republican”, Bellefontaine, Ohio
09 Oct 1874     In memory of William Smith — Born in Kentucky on 15 Dec 1803; 
died 24 Sep 1874 near Lewistown; moved with his parents to Clark Co., Ohio; 1833 
removed to Bloomfield Tp.; 1851 removed to father's old homestead in Pleasant Tp. 
near DeGraff; 1864 removed to his residence near Lewistown;  married 3 times, 1st 
to Sarah Smith, 2nd to Sarah Stockwell and 3rd to Mrs. Catharine McKinnon. Father 
of 9 children, two of whom, Mary Ann the oldest and George Wilson, the youngest, 
predeceased him; member of the M.E. Church since 1835.
