Mezlak, dies after getting hit by car John G. Mezlak, 58, of Lorain, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center from injuries suffered in a car-pedetrian accident the day before. A native and lifetime resident of Lorain, he worked as a letter carrier and later as fleet manager of Sheffield Lake Post Office, retiring in April 1988 after 28 years. Mr. Mezlak served in three branches of the military. He enlisted in the Air Force 1n 1947, served with the Ohio National Guard from 1948-1951, and was a corporal in the Army from 1951-1952. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain; AMVETS Post 47; Knights of Columbus, Council 637; Polish American Citizens Club; and American Slovak Club. Surviving are a son, John V. of Lorain; a brother, Steve of Lorain; and sisters, Mrs. Edward (Katherine) Kaye of Lorain, and JoAnne White of Claremont, Calif. He was preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Theodore, Rudolph, Joseph, and Frank. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the John R. Dovin Funeral Home, Lorain. Services will be in the funeral home Friday at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in Calvary, Lorain.
