OBERLIN - Albert Harris Smith, 74, of West Rd., RD 1, died yesterday at Allen 
Memorial Hospital after a long illness.  He was born in Bear Lake, Mich and had 
lived in this area 53 years.
  Mr. Smith was employed as a machinist at Lorain Works, U.S. Steel Corp. 
retiring in 1955.  During the 1930s he had operated his own machine shop here.  
He was a member of a Pittsfield Methodist Church.
  Survivors are his wife, Sara; a sister, Mrs. Leslie Shagena, of Clair, Mich.  
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Niles and a brother, Frank.
  Services will be Wednesday a 2 p.m. in the Cowling Funeral Home.  The Rev. 
Paul Brown of Wellington will officiate.  Burial will be in East Pittsfield 
Cemetery.
  Friends will be received at the funeral home this evening 7 to 9 and tomorrow 
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
