Stranahan, Lorain Co, OH, Will Book 2, p. 405 Sl State of Ohio Lorain County ss Will of Warren W. Stranahan Be it remembered that on the third day of September in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fifty five at the Court of Probate in and for said County held at the office of the Probate Judge at Elyria by William F. Lockwood Probate Judge in and for said County the following proceedings were had concerning the last Will and Testament of Warren W. Stranahan deceased late of Columbia in said County to wit: The last Will and Testament of Warren W. Stranahan late of Columbia in said County deceased was this day produced in Court by Sarah Stranahan the Executrix therein named and thereupon came William Adams and Charles H. Doolittle subscribing Witnesses to said Will and in open Court on oath certified to the due execution of the same which testimony was reduced to writing and by them respectively subscribed and filed with said Will and the Court being satisfied from said Testimony the said Will was duly attested and executed and that said Testator at the time of executing the same was of full age and sound mind and memory and not under any restraint - it is ordered that said Will and testimony by recorded and that said Will be admitted to probate. Which said Will and Testimony are in the Words and figures following to wit: In the name of the Benevolent Father of all. I Warren W. Stranahan of Columbia Township Lorain County and State of Ohio do make and publish this my last Will and Testament. Item 1st I give and devise to my beloved wife Sarah Ann in lieu of her dower the farm on which we now reside situate in County the Township of Columbia County of Lorain and State of Ohio containing about one hundred and sixty acres of land during her natural life, and all the stock, household goods, furnishings, provisions and other Goods and chattels which may be however selling so much thereof as may be sufficient to pay my just debts, at the death of my said Wife the real Estate aforesaid and such part of the said personal property or the proceeds thereof as may then remain unconsumed and unexpended I give and devise to my sons William P. John A. and Warren W. Stranahan and their heirs in equal proportions upon the conditions hereinafter mentioned. If however either of my three sons should die before the decease of my said wife leaving no children living at the decease of my said wife then the share of said property above devised to such deceased son or sons is hereby devised and bequeathed my surviving son or sons and his or their heirs provided that my said sons living at the decease of my said wife shall pay to each of my daughters to wit Sarah A. Mary J. Julia E. and Emily V. Stranahan the sum of twenty five dollars each or to their heirs. If my said wife should not survive me, then I devise and bequeath the property aforesaid to my sons as aforesaid with the condition as aforesaid of paying my said daughters or their heirs. Item 5: I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife executrix of this my last will and Testament hereby authorizing and empowering her to compromise adjust release and discharge in such manner as she may deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower my said wife, if it shall become necessary in order to pay my just debts to sell by private sale or in such manner, upon terms of credit or otherwise as she may think proper all or any part of my real Estate and Deeds to purchase to execute, acknowledge and deliver in Fee Simple. I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made. In Testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal this 2nd day of March A. D 1855. Warren W. D. 1855 : Testimony: In proof of the last Will and Testament of Warren W. Stranahan deceased late of the Township of Columbia in said county. Charles H. Doolittle and William Adams the subscribing witnesses to the last Will and Testament of said Warren W. Stranahan deceased, being duly sworn and examined in open Court on the day and Year aforesaid depose and say: that the said Testator at the time of executing his said last Will and Testament was of full age and of sound mind and memory and not under any restraint and that they signed as Witnesses to said Will in the presence of said Testator and by his special request and also in the presence of Each other: Wm Adams, C. H. Doolittle. Which said Testimony was reduced to writing and signed by said Witnesses in open Court this 3d day of September A. D. 1855 Attest Wm F. Lockwood Judge
