Harold H. Grothjan
Former Operations Chief At Rossford Depot

Harold H. Grothjan, former chief of operations at Rossford Ordnance Depot and a 
Toledo resident nine years, died yesterday in his home, 2210 Brookford Dr., after 
a long illness. He was 56.

Mr. Grothjan served at the Rossford depot from December, 1942, to September, 
1943, coming here from Little Rock, Ark. He was a major in World War II, assigned 
to ordnance work at various bases throughout the country. He also served overseas 
in World War I two years and was assigned to duty with the French Air Force.

Mr. Grothjan, born in Celina, O., was employed by the General Motors Corp., with 
his headquarters in Washington, before joining the army in World War II. After 
leaving the service he became a salesman for the Crosby Realty Co. and for the 
last three years had been a salesman for the Faye McNelly Real Estate Co. He was 
a member of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and the 
Republican Club.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; daughters, Mrs. Frank Bennett and Mrs. Gerald 
Hellrung, Toledo; Mrs. Robert Lauer, Boston, and Mrs. Warren Miller, Fort Wayne; 
son, Harold, Jr., Toledo; sisters, Mrs. W. F. Anthony and Mrs. Harry Jutze, 
Cincinnati, and Mrs. Eulalia Riley, Celina; brother, Dr. Cletus A. Grothjan, 
Toledo, and eight grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial 
will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body is in the Coyle Mortuary, Broadway. The 
family has requested donations be given the cancer fund in lieu of flowers.
