Lew. Wildman goes to Michigan this week on a business trip. Miss Maime Ryan is again seriously ill and confined to her room. Miss Fannie McCormack is convalescing from a recent attack of fever. Mrs. Ewalt of Warren is visiting her son, Rev. J.A. Ewalt, this place. Mrs. Rev. T.R. Taylor is visiting relatives near Tarlton, Pickaway county. Wm. Gardner, of York Springs, Pa, is visiting his brother, A.W. Gardner. Miss Maggie Jones spent Sunday with friends in Bloomingburg, Fayette county. Miss Linda Andrews of Warren, O., is the guest of Miss Olivia Ewalt this week. Mrs. Grace Bryan spent several days this week with her parents in Paint township. Miss Ella Ferguson of Columbus is visiting friends and relatives in this place. Mrs. Frank Filbey of West Milton, Miami county, has been visiting relatives in this place. Rosser Atchison attended the Druggists' Convention at Springfield last Wednesday and Thursday. Jerry Hearley of "Irishtown" this township, scores a ten pound Democratic boy to the census. Miss Josie Hayman of Danville is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Ed. Ballenger, West Center St. A. Hamilton, the Lafayette merchant, smiles over the arrival of a boy baby last Sunday. John Price and wife left last Thursday for Dakota on a visit to their daughter, Mrs. Albert Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold are attending the grand opening at Magnetic Springs and visiting the latter's father. Miss Maime McCammeron of Cincinnati is the guest of her sister, Mrs. A.J. Boyles, this place. Mrs. Carl Freigau of Dayton spent several days last week with her sister, Mrs. Ed. E. Ballenger. Miss Ella Lilly will graduate from a Wellsley (Mass.) college the latter part of this month. Isaac and Edward Leonard and their wives, of Plain City, were the guests of Miss Katie Quirk last Thursday. Wm. Green, the Springfield grain man, was calling on London friends Monday and Tuesday of this week. Ex-Warden I.G. Peetrey is home from Washington City, making preparations to remove his family to that city. Mack Dunkin, clerk of the Gibson House in Cincinnati, is spending this week at his former home in this place. Mrs. B.A. Wolff was called to Bellefontaine yesterday by the dangerous illness of her mother, Mrs. B. Morganroth. James Hamilton and wife will arrive home this week from a pleasant visit with the former's brother in Caledonia, N.Y. Mrs. Wm Powell and Mrs. Frank Powell and children of Columbus were visiting Mrs. Huggett, East Lincoln Avenue, last Wednesday. Miss Anna Willis has returned home from Thomasville and Atlanta, Ga., where she spent the winter and spring months. She is greatly improved in health. Warren Armstrong and wife and Mrs. John Duddy left Thursday evening for Kansas, the two former to Beatty, and the latter to El Dorado, where they will visit for some weeks. Dennis Clark is reported some better than last week. Mrs. Clark met with a serious accident Wednesday morning in falling down and injuring one of her limbs at the knee joint. Miss Mabel Jones of Champaign, Ill., is the guest of the family of Judge B.F. Clark. Marshall Sanford of Monroe township, a graduate of the Lebanon (O.) Normal, passed a satisfactory examination last week and was admitted to the practice of law. He has not yet selected a location. Miss Mary Singleton closed a successful term of school in the Paine district last Friday with a picnic. Miss Singleton has been re-engaged to teach the Fall and Winter terms in the same school. Ed. Baird of Antioch College, Yellow Springs, spent several days last week at his home in this place, accompanied by Miss Myrtle Newhouse and Miss Howard, students, and Messrs. Walter Yeazell and The. Burnett, both of Springfield. Fred. Newcomb came home yesterday morning from Columbus, being relieved from the position as guard in the Ohio Penitentiary. Chris. Fraher also has his official head cut off last week. The Rublican State administration has no use for Democrats. Catch on, Grover? Wood E. Finley, son of the late Rev. C. W. Finley, was awarded the first honor in a class of nineteen at the Hanover College, Hanover, Ind. Emery Hall, son of Foster Hall, Esq., of Fairfield township, came home last Friday from Blountsville, Alabama for a several weeks' visit. Emery studied law in Blountsville and was admitted to the bar, and is now the law partner of his uncle, Senator Hammill. The graduating class of 1886 consists of twenty one members.
