OH Mahoning Dispatch, undated (ca 1900) Charles C. Buck Brief Sketch of a Successful Young Business Man Among the many active young business men of the county, few are better or more favorably known than Mr. Buck. He is a native of Austintown, having been born there in 1861. After leaving school he began clerking for J. H. Fitch, with whom he remained three years. He received further training under J. N. Edward’s sons of Youngstown, and then removed to Cooperstown, Dakota, where for three years he was engaged in business on his own account. But his old home in Mahoning had many charms, and early in 1887 returned to Austintown, purchased the general store of Fitch & Raver, and continues to do a good business in the “old Brick store on the corner.” This is due in some degree to the fact that he is a liberal advertiser, as Dispatch readers are fully aware. Mr. Buck is a stalwart republican, and in 1889 was elected treasurer of Austintown by the largest majority ever given any man in the township. He served as postmaster under the Harrison administration and performed the duties of the office to the full satisfaction of the public. He is a genial gentleman and his never-failing courtesy endears him to all with whom he is thrown in contact.
