            MR. BAKER'S REFRIGERATOR

             It Is Expected That The North Pole
                   Will Grow Jealous

  Landlord BAKER, of the Tod, is building a brick
refrigerator in the rear of his new kitchen that is entirely
new from anything of the kind in the city and is being
built according to the plans drawn by Mr. BAKER himself.
  The walls of the refrigerator will be double and the space
between will be packed with ice. By a system of draughts
the ice will be kept from melting, and the refrigerator will
only have to be packed once a year.
  Inside, the refrigerator will consist of two apartments
or rooms, large enough to store the perishable stock kept
by the hotel, such as meats and vegetables. One of the
apartments will be kept below the freezing point in the
hottest weather, while the other will be kept at a medium
temperature sufficient to preserve butter milk and
bottled goods.
  With the new kitchen and the refrigerator Landlord BAKER
expects to have one of the finest cuisine departments of
any hotel in the state. The refrigerator will be called the
Esquimaux and it is expected that the north pole will be
jealous.
