SOLON A. BEARD, 77; RETIRED CANFIELD FARMER.
CANFIELD - Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Seederly-Mong Funeral 
Home, North Lima, for Solon A Beard, 77 of western Reserve Road, who died of 
cancer Monday evening after a five-month illness. Mr. Beard was born June 13, 
1908, in Youngstown, a son of Archer J. and Carrie E. Baer Beard, and moved to 
Canfield as a child. He was a self-employed farmer, retiring in 1958, and was 
a school bus driver from the early 1950's unitl the mid 1970's. He was a 
member of the Paradise United Church of Christ. His first wife, the former 
Erma Vaughn, whom he married in 1936, died in 1972. He leaves his wife, the 
former Ethel Greasel, whom he married in 1974: two stepdaughters, Mrs. Judy 
Davies of Dallas, TX and Miss Jane Ann Greasel of Akron; a son Hilton of 
Atlanta, GA.; a stepson, Joseph Greasel of Canfield; three sisters Miss. Nila 
Beard, Miss. Iris Beard and Mrs. Alta Culp, all of North Lima; seven 
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call one hour prior to 
services at the funeral home. The family requests material tributes take the 
form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
