New Buffalo - May 9 – Mrs. Caroline Beard, 94, died of arteriosclerosis Friday 
afternoon [4 May 1945] at her home New Buffalo-East Lewistown road. Mrs. Beard 
was born in Canfield township, Nov. 10, 1850, a daughter of Martin and 
Caroline [sic Catherine] Neff, and her entire life was spent in his area. On 
Aug. 27, 1868, she was united in marriage with George S. Beard. He died in 
1918. She leaves two sons, Burton A. and Alexander W., both at home; a sister, 
Mrs. Lois Edsall of Canfield; two grandsons, Ray A. and Arthur R. Beard, and a 
granddaughter, Mrs. Caroline Neff, all of New Buffalo, and eight great –
grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday [7 May 1945] at Paradise 
Lutheran church.

Burial – 7 May 1945 in Row 2, Paradise Lutheran Cemetery, Beaver Twp, Mahoning 
Co. OH
