Neff ffen@zoominternet.net May 3, 2006, 12:47 am Mahoning Dispatch, Fri. 17 Nov 1922 CANFIELD, Miss Julia 22 Apr 1858 to 10 Nov 1922 64y 6m 18d Miss Julia Canfield, 64, died last Friday night in the Youngstown hospital. She had been a sufferer from heart trouble for quite a number of years. Deceased was born in Canfield April 22, 1858, a daughter of the late Judson W. and Betsy Turner Canfield. Her great-grandfather was Judson Canfield for whom the village was named, he at one time owning 6,200 acres of land in Canfield township. With the exception of a few years spent in Youngstown and in home- steading a claim in Oregon her life was spent in this place. For sometime and until health no longer permitted she was night operator in the local telephone exchange. She is survived by three brothers and a sister, Walter Canfield of Youngstown, Judson of Lisbon, Colden of Washington state, and Mrs. J. A. Kline of Hyattsville, Wyoming. The remains were brought to the home of her cousin, E. Prior Tanner in Canfield, where funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. P. Hollister, were held Sunday afternoon.
