Walters Passes Away After Illness of Eight Weeks John W. Walters, a well known and highly esteemed resident of the North Side, passed away at his home, No. 38 Scott Street, Friday morning at 2:30 o'clock after an illness of eight weeks with a complication of diseases. Deceased was born in Girard, April 2, 1853. At the age of 14 years he went to Chicago, returning to this city shortly afterwards. For 33 years Mr. Walters was employed by the Erie Railroad company serving in the capacity of yardmaster of the lower yard for 22 years. He later became a real estate agent and at the time of his illness was employed as an auto salesman. Forty-two years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Carman of this city, who survives with the following children: Mrs. F.W. Hawn of Franklin, Pa., Grace and Leslie of Youngstown, Charles R., of Greensburg, Pa., and Dean A. of San Francisco. Six grandchildren, one brother William of Los Angeles and four sisters, Mrs. Henry W. Smith, Mrs. Sophia Marshall, Mrs. Emmet Crum of Youngstown, and Mrs. Wm. Drake of Girard also survive. Funeral services will be held at the residence Monday at 2:30 o'clock and private interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Bateman will officiate.
