Evelyn Ruth Hall Neff, 92
RICHMOND, VA. – Evelyn Ruth Hall Neff, 92, of the Brandermill Woods Retirement 
Community, formerly of Canfield, died Thursday, Sept. 18, from complications 
following surgery. She was born in Beloit, the daughter of Moses and Teresa 
Hall, and had lived in Canfield most of her life. A graduate of Goshen High 
School and Canfield Normal School, Mrs. Neff taught in the Mahoning County 
schools. She was very active in the community and the Canfield United 
Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Helen Hall of Sebring; two 
sons, Charles J. Neff Jr. of Bavon, Va.; James E. Neff of Newport News, Va.; a 
daughter, Marilyn Neff Miles of Fredericksburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, 
Laura Neff and Victoria Neff Kiley, both of Richmond, Charles J. Neff III of 
Raleigh, N.C., Scott Neff of Greensboro, N.C., Stephen Miles of Rochester, 
N.Y., and James Miles and Caroline Miles, both of Fredericksburg; and 11 great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles 
J. Neff Sr.; and a sister, Erla Yates. There was a memorial service Wednesday 
at Brandermill Woods Retirement Community. The family request that in lieu of 
flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Canfield United Methodist 
Church or the Brandermill Community Church.
