Neff ffen@zoominternet.net June 1, 2006, 12:56 pm Youngstown Vindicator, Th, 6 Sep 1945 p. 12:4 NOLL, John [Husband of Margaret nee ROSE] 13 Mar 1861 to 6 Sep 1945 84y 5m 24d John Noll Sr., Steel Man, Dies Long Illness Is Fatal John Noll Sr., aged 84, of 271 Spring St., died at South Side unit of Youngstown Hospital at 6: 15 a.m. today following a long illness. Mr. Noll, former vice president and secretary of the Falcon Bronze Co., has been in failing health for some time. Nine weeks ago he broke his hip and resulting complications caused his death. His son, Lt. Col. John Noll, is flying here today from Mitchell Field. He has been with the army medical corps since the out break of the war. Mr. Noll came to Youngstown in 1872. He was married in 1901. Like most boys of his time he started to work at an early age. He was connected with the Homer E. Hamilton Foundry, its successor the William Tod Co., and also worked with James A. Campbell and George D. Wick at the original Valley Mould Co. In 1900 he joined the Falcon Bronze Co., retiring from active work in 1919, but continuing as an officer. Was Expert Foundryman Mr. Noll was widely known as an expert foundryman in the early days of the steel industry in the Mahoning Valley. He was at the Brown-Bonnell mills and knew many phases of the steel business. James L. Wick, president of Falcon Bronze, said today, “John Noll was the best moulder the valley ever produced. He dignified good workmanship, good citizenship and carried out his duties to his church and his country.” Mr. Noll was born in Brownsville, Pa., March 13, 1861, the son of Louise and Henry Noll. A charter member and for many years a deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mr. Noll was widely known among the church people of the county. He leaves his wife, the former Margaret Rose; his son, and three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, John Brockway and Fred James Noll. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 .m.
