He spent most of the winter with his niece, Mrs. Maude Shield Shively, in Akron, being in poor health much of the time. He returned some weeks ago to Canfield and after spending a short time at his farm southwest of the village, went to Youngstown where fatal illness overtook him. He was a son of Russell F. and Mary Neff Starr, pioneer residents of Canfield township, and was born two miles east of the village Nov. 3, 1847, consequently in the 86th year of his age. He long followed farming and was a great lover of good horses, owning several speedy ones in his younger years which he found pleasure in driving in races. During several years’ residence in Canfield he served as a member of council. He is survived by one brother, Henry N. Starr, of Boardman, several nieces and a nephew. Funeral services held Wednesday afternoon from Williams’ funeral home were conducted by Rev. G.O. Bennethum, pastor of the Boardman M.E. Church. Burial was in Canfield village cemetery.
