Neff Dead Always Lived in Canfield” Mrs. Harriett S. Neff, 75, wife of John E. Neff, died last Sunday evening at her home on East Main street after an illness that extended over a considerable period. Deceased was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Oswald Sanzenbacher and was born in Canfield Oct. 26, 1851, consequently was in the 76th year of her age. Her entire life was spent in and near the village where she enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew her. She was a most kindly woman, quiet and unassuming, one who left an impress for good. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and active in its several branches of work. On March 31, 1870, she was married to John E. Neff, who survives with one daughter, Miss Sadie Neff, of Miami, Fla., and five sons, Ensign E., Martin J., Calvin C., Cyrus H., and Roy J. Neff all of Canfield. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. I. Callahan, and one brother, Charles Sanzenbacher, both of this place. Funeral services held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock were conducted by Rev. H.A. Cassidy, pastor of the M.E. Church, and the remains were placed in the village cemetery mausoleum. Additional Comments: Canfield Village Cemetery, East Main St., Canfield, Mahoning County, Ohio The Canfield Cemetery Village Mausoleum is in the front, facing E. Main St., of the Canfield Village Cemetery. It is the large stone building just to the left (east) of the main entry drive, and it is no longer in use. In the 1940's remains of those interred in the mausoleum were removed by family members to the cemetery. Harriet Sanzenbacher Neff had been interred there, but now (since about 1940) rests with a new headstone just outside the old Mausoleum in Section B, Row 1. She and her husband, John E. Neff and three of their children, Sadie, Calvin and Rebecca share the same headstone. (John E.’s parents, Martin and Catherine Wilson Neff, have a headstone just to the north of them.)
