As school examinations were in progress pupils not so occupied were allowed their freedom. Lee, in company with three companions, Donald Snyder, Ellis McCartney and Morgan Davis, elected to go swimming. Lee, unable to swim, got aboard a small raft while his companions plunged into the pond. Presently one of the boys saw Lee fall into the water and called the others to join in his rescue. While unable to locate the spot where he went down alarm was given and some dragging was being done without effect. It was not until after a crowd had gathered and the lad had been in the water more than an hour that Charles Neff, Boy Scout leader, dived into the pool and at once located the body close to shore and brought it to the surface. It was removed in Williams’ ambulance to the funeral home. Lee suffered from heart trouble and he never came up after sinking, it is thought he may have had a sudden attack, causing him to fall into the water. The pond is about 500 yards from the one on Altimo Culture Co. grounds in which Lee, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Davies, drowned some months ago. It is a coincidence that both unfortunate bore the same given name and both tragedies occurred at noon. Lee Yeager, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Yeager, was born in Canfield Township Jan. 18, 1915. During the past four years he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Horace C. Clay, residing near the Yeager family, attending school in the village and working on the farm during vacations. They had become greatly attached to the lad and deeply mourn his untimely death. Besides his parents deceased leaves two sisters, Lucy and Delma, and four brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Wade and Lloyd Yeager, all at home. Funeral services will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. C.A. Lang, pastor of Austintown Reformed Community church, officiating. Interment will be made in Zion church cemetery, one mile north of the village. Burial – Row 1 Old North Cemetery, Canfield, Mahoning Co.
