Funeral services for the popular Brunswick man, who was president of the Brunswick Board of Education, will be held at 2PM, Wednesday at Bennetts Corners Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Braun will officiate and burial will be in the Brunswick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Searle & Bassett Funeral Home in North Royalton, Tuesday afternoon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mader, who live just south of Bennetts Corners, had been vacationing at Pelee Island and at 6AM Thursday left in a small outboard motorboat to fish. Three hours later a strong wind came up, making the lake rough. Mr. Mader headed the boat for shore and in turning around both he and Mrs. Mader were pitched into the lake. The waves took the boat out of reach of the Maders. Their shouts for help were of no avail, so Mr. Mader, seeing that his wife was having no trouble afloat, told her he was going asore, 500 feet distance, for help. Mrs. Mader recalls that she looked around to see her husband carried sidesways with the waves and he went under. People on the shore came to her rescue. An expert swimmer, Mr. Mader was handicapped by being heavily dressed. It is believed a heavy undertow took him under. Both Mr. and Mrs. Mader were employed at Longview Farm, operated by Ralph W. Strong. Mr. Mader was superintendent of the poultry department. Surviving besides the wife, Jean, are two daughters, Joan and Elizabeth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mader of Cleveland; a brother Ralph of Detroit; and a sister Florence Smith of Cleveland.
