All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/oh/ohfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Karen Johnson johnsonk4@msn.com October 13, 2004, 6:37 pm Chester Meigs Co Ohio Written: November 12 1829 Recorded: December 21 1829 Sarah Hardy et al Know all men by these presents that where as heretofore to To Lease wit on the twenty fifth day of June in the year of Our Lord Josiah Curtis one thousand eight hundred and twenty two Levi Stedman of Peter Grow Trustees of school section number sixteen of the third township twelveth Range of the Ohio Companys Purchase by an article of Indenture bearing Date the day and year as above mentioned leased to Wyman Hardy one hundred and sixty acres of land as described in said lease and known in the ___ of said Section No. Sixteen as lot number three with all the priviliges and appurtenances thereunto belonging for the term of ninety nine years from the Date thereof ___ known to all People to whom these presents shall come greeting. That I Sarah Hardy widow of the said Wyman Hardy now deceased & we Farnum Hardy Thirza Hardy Eliza Hardy Emily Hardy & Otis Hardy Russel Hardy being heirs at law of the said Wyman Hardy all of the township of Chester County of Meigs and State of Ohio for and in consideration of Josiah Curtis to our full satisfaction the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and ourselves therewith contented have given granted bargained sold ___ released and forever quit claimed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell __ release and forever quit claimed unto him the said Josiah Curtis his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the township of Chester aforsaid described as follows to wit forty six acres off from the South West corner of the North East Quarter of Section Number sixteen (No.16) in Township number three (No.3) Range twelve (No.12) in the Ohio Company Purchase Beginning at a post in the center of said section of Southwest Corner of said Quarter Section and running from thence North one hundred and twenty ___ to a post thence East sixty one and three tenths perches to a Post in Farnum Hardy improvements thence south one hundred & twenty (120) perches to a birch tree thence West sixty one three tenths perches to beginning containing (46) forty six acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the said premises together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Josiah Curtis to him for and during the remainder of the term of thirty nine years from the twenty fifth day of June A.D. 1822 agreeably to the ____ and effect of the lease above described in as ample a manner as the said Wyman Hardy deceased did hold or could have held the same under and by virtue of the lease aforesaid or as we the undersigned widow and heirs at law of the said Wyman Hardy now hold the same. He the said Josiah Curtis being subject to the same penalties forfeitures and to the payment of the same ___ of conamed in said lease in proportion to the quantity of land hereby conveyed agreeable to the last and all future valuations and the said Sarah Hardy widow of the said Wyman Hardy Farnum Thirza Eliza Emila and Otis Hardy and Russel do hereby convenant for ourselves and each for the other for our heirs each for the other for our Executors and administrators respecfully each for the other to and with the said Josiah Curtis his heirs and asigns that we are the Widow of heirs at law of the said Wyman Hardy deceased ___ ___ ___ lawful authority to sell and convey the promises in manner above written & further that we the said widow and heirs of the said Wyman Hardy deceased do hereby covenant in manner aforesaid that we will ___ usually warrant and defend the premises against all lawful claims and demands which may have been made by reason of any deed or deeds of acquaintance made executed by the Wyman Hardy during his lifetime of the ___ is or by us or either of us since his death as widow an heirs as aforesaid in testimony where of we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 12th day of Nov. A.D. 1829 in presence of Sally Hardy (seal) Wm Weldon Farnum Hardy (seal) Stephen Smith Thriza Hardy (seal) Otis Hardy (seal) Eliza Hardy (seal) The State of Ohio Before me William Weldon acting Justice of the Peace Meigs County in the County of Meigs__aforesaid personally appeared Sarah Hardy Farnum Hardy Thirza Hardy Otis Hardy Eliza Hardy and acknowledged the foregoing instrument by them signed and sealed to be their voluntary act and Deed for the purpose & use therein contained given and on my hand and seal this 21th Day of December 1829.
