Mr. Samuel Knapp, the brakeman, who was sitting on one of the cars, with one leg between two cars, had his foot crushed, and nearly severed at the ankle. We understand that his leg has since been amputated. MARRIED On Thursday, Nov. 15th, 1855, by Rev. S. C. Frampton, Mr. John Devers to Mrs. Elizabeth Gott, all of Pomeroy. Obituary Died, in Middleport, on the 18th of November, of Dropsy, Mrs. Harriet D. McElhenny, daughter of Joseph D. Plummer, aged fifty years. For many years she had been a decided and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. Her health had been poor for more than two years. About ten months ago, she began to have decided symptoms of dropsy. Her malady rapidly increased, bidding defiance to medical skill, till it terminated her useful life. When her disease had assumed a settled and permanent character, and it became evident that she had not long to live, she struck back, at first, from the King of Terrors. She clung to life. But gradually, as the time of her departure drew near, her attachment to the present life grew less, and her faith in the Redeemer grew stronger, till death was robbed of its terrors, and she welcomed the messenger which was to introduce her to a world where sickness and death are know no more.
