He had been ill, of fever, for a few days, but, on Saturday, he was so much better that hopes were entertained of his speedy recovery. On Saturday evening, he was able to walk about the house and garden - - the next morning, before sunrise he was a corpse. About 4 o’clock, he was heard to breathe strangely. His parents hastened to his bedside and found him dying. He had probably been seized in a fit of some kind. Emerson was about sixteen years of age; yet very few of riper years enjoyed a larger share of the esteem and confidence of this community.
