After enduring with Christian patience and fortitude, a painful illness for many months, he left his aged companion and a numerous family of children and grand children to mourn their loss. The deceased had been a professor of the Christian religion, for nearly a half a century; and his neighbors and friends can bare him wit-witness, that he lived the life of a Christian. The deceased was born on the 12th of February, 1775, at Nottingham, New Hampshire, where he lived until he emigrated to the (province) now State of Maine, in the year 1800. In 1802 he married Lydia Longfellow, and settled in the county of Penobscot, Maine where he resided until he removed to the county of Meigs, Ohio - - the place of his decease, in the summer or fall of 1817 in the company with his older brother, who had explored the wilds of Ohio, in the year 1787-8, in the company with the army commanded by Gen. Harmer. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord - - their works do follow them. SALE OF LAND BY GUARDIAN [abstracted] Under order of Probate Court August 8, 1856 the property of John Savage of Rutland township will be sold. Starting at the northeast corner of the northeast quarter of Section #20, Township #6, Range #14 then north on the section line to the northeast corner of the quarter, then west on north line of section, 76 rods to the land owned by Abijah Savage, then south to the land of Abram Aleshire, then on the northerly line of Aleshire’s land to the beginning, 60 acres.
