The storm was one of the hardest of the season. E. H. Stedman This gentleman, formerly of Middleport, but now residing in Linn county, Iowa, visited our sanctum last week, looking as hearty and pleasant as ever. He seems well pleased with his new home in the west. Mr. S. was always a strong friend to the Telegraph, and says he cannot do without it now. He receives it regularly, and reads advertisements and all. We wish him abundant success in his new home. Homer M’Vay We presume this gentleman will pardon us for stating that he is the author of the letter from Delaware, O., published in another column. He is now a student of Theology, at Lane Seminary, Walnut Hills. We should be pleased to hear from him frequently, as also from any other of our former Meigs county boys. MARRIED On the 31st of July, by S. H. Hayman, Esq., in Letart township, near Apple Grove, Mr. David Parker, to Miss Mary McGraw, both of this township. On the 27th of July, 1856, by the Rev. Elias Gatchel, Mr. Henry Floyd, of Jackson county, Va., to Mrs. Olive Thorn, of Meigs county, O. OBITUARY Died in Pomeroy, on the 17th inst., Mr. Peter Barclay, in the 48th year of his age. The deceased was a native of Scotland, but emigrated in early life to Prince Edwards, from whence in 1840 he came to this place. In this death a widow and three young children have sustained and feel a loss, for which all the world besides can never be an equivalent. His brothers and sisters feel that a vacancy is made in their circle, that can never in time be filled. Among his neighbors and friends his memory will long be held in remembrance for his many virtues, and his kind, quiet, and friendly deportment.
