E. Hayes, of Bedford township, has sold his farm and is preparing to move to Missouri. Rev. J. D. Smith, formerly of Athens, has taken up quarters on Fifth Street, Middleport. The people of Chester were entertained by an address from the Hon. Judge Plants, Oct. 12th. Geo. Snowden started for Montana a few days since where he will take charge of some mining interests. Dr. David Radford, of Chester township, exhibited a Poland hog at the Meigs County Fair, 2 1/2 years old and weighing 840 pounds. Miss Brechtle, the only support of invalid mother and several children, died in Pomeroy, on Wednesday morning, Oct. 18th, after an illness of fifteen weeks. The citizens of Pomeroy had made arrangements to give her a Benefit in the way of a Musical Festival on Thursday night, and now the proceeds will go to pay her funeral expenses and to support her mother.
