Everett Wells has, says a Middleport correspondent of the Telegraph, removed on a farm in Athens county. Common Pleas Court, of this county, opened on Wednesday, of last week, with Judge Bradbury on the bench. There are 260 civil and criminal cases on the trial docket. Mr. Edward Short, a well known and deservedly esteemed citizen, of Middleport aged about 60, died at his late home in that place on Sunday of last week after protracted illness. At Racine, one day last week, Dale Roberts, a lad of 12 years, grandson of the late Dr. Philson, was kicked by Thomas Decker's colt in the face. His nose was broken, and the flesh torn from one side of the face. Miss Rhoda Chase, who, says a Rutland correspondent of the Telegraph, for many years had made her home in the family of Mr. Seth Paine, of this village, was united in marriage to Mr. James W. Atba, of West Virginia on last Wednesday evening, the 13th. The Chester correspondent of the Telegraph says; The new cannon brought up from Pomeroy last Saturday for the purpose of arousing the township, after firing about half a dozen rounds bursted, with a tremendous explosion, into several pieces, two of which struck the old Courthouses with great force, breaking a hole in the heavy wall and throwing some of the inside bricks nearly half way across the house. It being early in the evening but few people had gathered and very fortunately no one was injured.
