John W. Picket, age 27, recently died at his home, at Carpenter's station, Columbia township, of Consumption. Edward Wakely, a much respected citizen of MeigsCreek, who was lately taken to the Athens Asylum subsequently died in that institution. "Baron" Chas. P. Von Kaminietz, well known in Pomeroy and Middleport recently, died suddenly at the National Military Home at Dayton. The Pomeroy school board at its meeting last week employed Mrs. T. C. Flanegin and Miss Clema McKnight to fill the remaining vacancies in the schools there. Thomas J. Baker, under indictment for shooting with intent to kill broke out of jail at Pomeroy on a recent evening and made good his escape. He is also under indictment in Powell county, KY., for killing a man.
