Post of Middleport at Coe's Hall at 2 o'clock on the afternoon of Decoration Day. Fire at Middleport last Friday morning destroyed three dwelling houses, one owned by John Grogan and two by Rodney Downing. Loss $1,500. Pendleton Pickerell, aged 22 years, a resident of Lebanon township, was recently adjudged insane and brought to the AThens Asylum. He is the sixth person taken to the Asylum in the past five months from Meigs county. David Davis, better know as Big David Davis, a miner in the Peacock coal mine, Pomeroy, last Thursday receved injuries from falling coal and slate, which will probably result fatally. He is a Welshman aged about 60 years, and has several daughters. Mrs. Jacob Mee, living at Mason City, near Pomeroy, one day last week gave birth to three four-pound boy babes, which have since died. Mrs. is a next door neighbor to Mrs. Foster Curtis, who several months ago gave birth to a child that now only weights two pounds. George H Goff, in his 21st year, son of Mr. and Mrs. Draper L. Goff who live a short distance east of Danville, was accidentally shot with fatal effect on Tuesday afternoon of last week by Clarence, son of F. D. Barns, while on the way to the woods to hunt. Young Gof died on Wednsday night from the effects of his injury. At Langsville, Monday afternoon of last week, Austion Barton while in the act of shooting, or getting read to shoot a rat, his weapon was prematurely discharged the bullet striking his nephew, Austin Ward, aged 17, above the right eye, entering the brain cavity. Immediately following the shooting the brains oozed from the wound, and the victim was expected to live but a short time.
