J. Jordan, died early Friday morning at the home of her sister, Miss Dona Harper on Franklin street. She had been living with her sister for some months. Mrs. Jordan was well-known in the community and her passing brings great sorrow to her family and friends. Harriet Melissa Harper, daughter of William and Sarah Young, Harper was born on the old Harper homestead in Blackcreek township, Mercer county, Ohio, Jan 3, 1852, and departed this life at the home of her sister, Miss Dona Harper in Rockford, Oh. May 4th, 1934, aged 82 years, 4 months and 1 day. September 16, 1875 she was united in marriage to S. J. Jordan and to this union was born one son, Dillon E. Her husband receded her one year ago last November 22nd. Before her marriage, Mrs. Jordan taught school for a number of years in Mercer county and Adams county, Indiana. When in her teens she was converted an joined the Duckcreek Methodist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Rockford United Brethren Church. She leaves to mourn her departure, one son, Dillon E. Jordan and wife and their daughter, Betty of Rockford; one sister, Miss Dona Harper of Rockford, where she resided some three months prior to her death; other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Jordan was a patient self sacrificial disposition, never tiring in her labors for others. Her life was consistently Christian. This is the greatest tribute of all. This she leaves to constantly remind and encourage us in our endeavors of life. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Rockford U. B. Church, in charge of Rev. Ora Johnson and Rev. W. E. Davies. The burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
