Jane,
There are an awful lot of deed transfers for the surname Shidaker in the
index of 1807-1863.  They were in Troy, Elizabeth Twp., and Lostcreek
Twp. the earliest being 1807 to John Shidaker from US of A bk 2 p.75 in
Elizabeth Twp. There are deed transfers through 1863.  A copy of this
deed transfer can be acquired by writing to the Recorder at the Miami
County Courthouse, West Main Street, Troy, OH 45373 for $1.00 per page.

1880 Beers History of Miami County Ohio:
p. 522 Phoebe Burton(of William and Elizabeth (Saunders) Burton) now
Mrs. J. A. Shidaker, living in Troy 
p. 560 Henry Carver married a Milly Knoop daughter of Christopher and
Catherine (Shidaker) Knoop (Catherine being a native of Maryland).
Christopher and Catherine had 5 children ((there's a little more on
these children if you want it)
p. 562 Van S. Deaton, M.D. married Laura E.(daughter of Henry C. and
Elizabeth Shidaker) on March 6, 1876 and had 2 sons.

I scanned through 1981 History of Miami Co., Elizabeth Twp. and found no
reference to Shidaker and there are no genealogies in the book for
Shidaker.
