Howard M. Beal, 87, of Conover, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 
2008, in Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Fairborn, the son of the late Ralph and Mary 
(Armstrong) Beal. He married Mary Elizabeth Francis on Feb. 16, 1948, and she 
preceded him in death on March 31, 1978.
He leaves behind four children, James Beal of St. Paris, Barbara (John) Black 
of San Antonio, Texas, John (Melissa) Beal of Conover and Charles (Susan) Beal 
of New Carlisle.
He was a loving grandfather to Lauren, Jordan, Emily and Isaac Beal.
In addition to his parents and wife, a sister, Grace Wilgus preceded him in 
death.
Mr. Beal was a 1939 graduate of Brown Township High School. He formerly 
attended the Lena Baptist Church. He was engaged in farming and served as a 
Brown Township Trustee for 23 years.
He also served on the Miami County Fair Board. Funeral services will be held 
on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., 
Fletcher, with the Rev. Philip Schumm of the Lena Baptist Church presiding. 
Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
