Catlin, 75, of Fletcher, passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007, in her residence. Avis was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Shafford) Benham. Charles, from Conover, and Alice, from Tippecanoe, relocated to Massachusetts where Avis was born on Dec. 6, 1931, a resident of Longmeadow, Mass. She also lived for many years in Wilbraham, Mass, while married to Harold M. Catlin Jr., relocating to Fletcher in 1981. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Dru Catlin, currently of Seabrook Island, S.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Nheda Catlin of Florida; and two grandchildren, Amy and James Catlin of Florida; a sister, Kay Carpenter of Piqua; and a chosen sister of 57 years, Bev Anderson of Vermont. Georgia Springer of Fletcher tops the list of many good friends who survive her. In addition to her parents, a son, John B. Catlin, preceded her in death. Avis was a uniquely special person who lived an active and vibrant life. Creative and well traveled, she loved adventure. Rare would be the individual more independent, and she was certainly more determined than most. A private visitation and funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/oh/miami/obits/c/catlin579gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ohfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
