Earick, 79, of Covington, passed away at the home of her daughter, Sharon Lee, in Tipp City, Friday, Feb. 10, 2006. She was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Shelby County, to the late Harry I. and Muriel (Fry) Shawler. Helen attended Springcreek Schools and Piqua Schools. She married her husband, Vemon Earick Jr., on Jan. 16, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1979. Helen and her husband were lifelong farmers. She retired in 1990 from Hartzell Propeller in Piqua after 23 years of service. Helen also gave attention to her family as she was a wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma; it was a position she found in life to be most rewarding. She was a member of the Friedens Lutheran Church in Bloomer, AMVETS Auxiliary Post 66, Covington, American Legion Post 80, Covington, and VFW Auxiliary Post 4235, Covington. Helen enjoyed life, she and her husband were able to travel together, she was enthused with her ceramics and liked to crochet. Helen was a known doll collector, which gave her so much enjoyment over the years. She appreciated the Sunrise Center in Troy where she spent many hours visiting with friends. She will be missed and remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vonda and Gary Kesler of Covington and Sharon and James Lee of Tipp City; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jeanne Earick of Covington and John and Susan Earick of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Larry Lee Earick of Williamsburg, Va., Shad Earick of Willard, Leah Earick of Piqua, Shelley Nelson of Wichita, Kan., Lesley Liedtke of Joshua, Texas, Gary B. Kesler of Kettering, Michael Kesler of Swanton, Carolyn Owens of Covington and Zach Lee of Tipp City; 16 great¬grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Wanda Shawler of Piqua; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Chambers of Auberndale, Fla., Phyllis Layman of Bradford and Donna Maxson of Troy, sister-in-law, June Shawler of Columbus; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernon Earick Jr.; and brothers, Carl Shawler, Harry Shawler Jr., Ora Shawler and Roger Shawler. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Pearson-Jackson Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor Tom Friend and Pastor Mike Werts officiating. Interment will take place in the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington. Calling hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
