Edminson, age 89, of Youngstown, formerly of Fletcher, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 9:03 a.m. in Carington Park, Ashtabula. He was born on April 4, 1914, the son of the late Telly Andrew and Katie May (Curtis) Edminson. He married Martha Gertrude Dean in 1941 and she preceded him in 1980. On July 24, 1982, he married Thelma Raub Walsh and they enjoyed 21 years together. She survives. He is also survived by three sons and daughters in law: John Telly (Sandra) Edminson of Piqua, Robert Dean (Debra) Edminson of Massillion, and Paul Curtis (Laura) Edminson of Burton, Mich.; three stepchildren and spouses; Kevin (Patty) Walsh, Midlothian, Va, Eileen (Raymond) Novotny of Canfield, and Sheila Walsh of Piano, Texas. He has 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, Harold was preceded by brothers Roy and Theodore. Harold graduated from Lena Conover School in 1933. He went to CCC Camps from 1934-1935. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947 and he was injured in the Rhineland Campaign and was awarded a purple heart and a bronze star. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. After the war he worked for 37 years for the Penn Railroad in the maintenance section. He was a member of the Piqua Church of Christ for 50 years. He and his wife, Thelma, retired in Largo, Fla. for 20 years and he was a former member of the Northeast Christian Church of St. Petersburg, Fla. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 in the Piqua Church of Christ, 3969 W. St. Rt. 185, Piqua. Funeral services will begin at noon with Associate Pastor Scott VanDyke presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher. Military services will be offered by VFW Post No. 4874.
