She was born Oct. 9, 1950, in Piqua, the daughter of the late Norman D. and Norma Jean (Wiley) Mullen. She married Butch Emswiler on July 19,1969, and he survives. Elaine is also survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jamie and Tamara Emswiler of Adelaide, Australia and Adam Emswiler of Fletcher. She was a loving grandmother to three I grandsons, Tyler, Jonah and Nathan of Australia. Elaine also is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Dennis Barbee of Piqua; a brother, Randy Mullen of Fletcher; three nieces and their husbands, Jill and Jody Balser of Piqua, Rita and Terry Puthoff of Ft. Knox, Ky. and Kelly and Mike Schellhouse of Tipp City; a goddaughter, Hailey Weaver of Fletcher; and a special friend, Linda Everett; as well as many aunts and uncles. Elaine was a 1969 graduate of Fairlawn High School and attended beauty school in Piqua. An active member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church, Elaine served on the Administrative Council and the Dayton North District Board of Ordained Ministry and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and past president of the United Methodist Women. She formerly was employed as the church secretary at Fletcher and Pasco United Methodist churches; was a bus driver for Miami East School District and for Riverside; did alterations for Uhlman's and Barclay's; and was a secretary with W.A. Shively Realty in Piqua. She was a member of Fidelity Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Lena, and she loved to play cards. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Revs. Russ Tichenor and Marilyn Hardman of Fletcher United Methodist presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
