Dale Franklin Friend, 74, of Okeechobee, Fla., formerly of Piqua, passed away 
Tuesday, July 12, 2007, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Fla.
He was born May 12, 1933, the son of the late Frank and Margaret Friend. He 
also was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Friend.
Dale is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Covault) Friend; son, Dirk 
(Linda) Friend; and three grandchildren, Katie, Brian and David.
He was a Piqua Central High School Class of 1951 graduate and was a veteran of 
the Korean War. He was a member of Piqua American Legion Post 184, a life 
member of AMVETS and a member of Eagles Lodge 3998 of Covington. Dale also was 
a past member of Warren Masonic Lodge 24 in Piqua and was a Shriner and 32nd 
Degree in Dayton.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at 
the gravesite in Fletcher Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Ratliff 
officiating.
