Howell, 74, of Covington passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009, in Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center. Connie was born on Aug. 9, 1934, in Troy, the daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin Phillis and Mary Ellen (Bair) Phillis. Her mother survives in Tipp City. Her husband, Marion R. Howell of Covington, whom she married on March 20, 1954, also survives Connie. Together they raised two children, Debby (Rick) Hohne of Kettering and Jay (Vickie) Howell of Troy. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, James (Anne) Hohne of Hawaii, Joel Hohne of Kettering, Sara Howell, Samantha Howell and Andy Howell all of Troy; four great- grandchildren, Talen, Katie, Billy and Christopher; one brother, Dean (Becky) Phillis of Pleasant Hill; and a sister-in-law, Doris Zerkle of Lena. Connie was a 1953 graduate of Troy High School and she attended the Troy Nazarene Church. She was a retired manager of the Imperial House Motel where she worked for 35 years. She could often be found filling in at the Helen of Troy Restaurant, also. Connie was a member of the American Business Women's Association of Troy, she was listed in Who's Who of American Women, and was the first woman to serve on the Troy Chamber of Commerce. She formerly served on the Miami County Fair Board, the Strawberry Festival Committee and she was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with Pastor Ron Barber of the Troy Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery.
