Johnston, 88, of Piqua and formerly of Fletcher, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 27, 2008. She was born April 16, 1920, in Miami County, a daughter of the late John R. and Elsie (Martin) Zirkle. She married Chester "Chet" Johnston on May 30, 1943, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2001. Anna is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beverlee and Albert Mayfield of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Sword of Richmond, Ky., Jeannie Fisher of Sidney, Julie (Tony) Sparks of Dayton and Joshua Hughes of Largo, Fl; and five great grandchildren. Additional survivors include two sisters and a brother-in- law, Jean Zirkle of Richmond, Ind. and Betty and Ernest "Jr." Hague of Fletcher; and one brother and sister-in law, Carl "K.O." and Betty Zirkle of St. Paris. Anna was a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a cook for the Miami East North Elementary School, Fletcher, the Miami East High School, Casstown and Piqua Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher with the Rev. Marilyn Hardman of Fletcher presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
