He came to America at the age of 11 years, his father being a Baptist minister and one of the pioneer circuit rider preachers of this section of Ohio. The family settled near Springfield and later Mr. Kingham upon his marriage lived in Franklin and then moved to Casstown building a home here shortly after the Civil War. About three years ago because of the infirmities of age he went to live with a son in Conover and for the last three months has been at the Odd Fellows home at Springfield, at which place he passed away Thursday July 8, 1920 being only a few months less than 90 years old. Mr. Kingham had been married twice, his last wife passing away in 1913. Of the five children born to the last union, two are living, Walter of Troy and Harry of Indianapolis. The children of the first wife living are James of Indianapolis, William of Conover and Mrs. Martha Mottoe of Maplewood. For many years he was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Casstown I.O.O.F. Lodge and was especially grateful to the Odd fellows for their kindness to him in his later years. He was a broom manufacture for practically all the time of his residence at Casstown and was well known throughout the country. He was a kind father and an industrious citizen and his deeds of kindness will be remembered many years by his relatives and friends. They were as follows, Mary Elizabeth, Martha Rebeca, Perry Franklin, John Edward, James, William Goldsmith. His second wife was Mariah Smith, sister of Rebeca daughter of Ebenezer and Rozella Conover Smith.
