"Grumpy/Whitey" McKee, 76, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly at 9:09 p.m. Monday, Jan.25, 2010, at Grandview Hospital, Dayton. He was born March 13, 1933, in Christians-burg, to the late Earl Ralph and Eunice Viola (Hitchcock) McKee. In addition to his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Glazier. Norbert married his wife of 44 years, Karen S. Haaga on Dec. 11, 1965, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Norbert is survived by his two brothers, Glenn (Juanita) of Yuma, Ariz., and Rathdrum, Idaho and Von Kay (Bonnie) of Troy; four sons, Steve (Tina), Gary (Janice), Robert, and Ronald (Megan) all of Troy; four grandsons, Derrick, Shane, Parker, and Brady and two granddaughters, Tabitha and Brittney; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He is a 1952 graduate of Troy High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Norbert retired 1995 from Hobart Arena as superintendent after 20 years of service. He was previously employed at Huntsman Container for five years, Brower Electric, Miami County Sheriffs Department as a deputy sheriff and Trojan Hamburgers. He was a member of the Troy Eagles 971 and served as secretary there for 22 years; life member of VFW 5436, Troy, member of AMVETS Post 88 of Troy, Korean Veterans of Piqua, and Troy Fish and Game Club. There will be a funeral service held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Shawn Hess officiating. The visitation will be from 1-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by an Eagles Service at 1:45 p.m. Interment will be in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher with a military service at the graveside by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
