Charles Oliver "Charlie" Mertz, 11-week-old son of Jonathan W. and Melanie A. 
(O'Keefe) Mertz of Piqua, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008.
He was born Oct. 6, 2008, in Miami County.
Other survivors include maternal grandmother, Mindy (John) Shockey of Troy; 
maternal grandfather, Peter (Pam) O'Keefe of Jackson, Mich.; paternal 
grandparents, Connie and Gerald R. Mertz of Piqua; maternal great- 
grandmothers, Ellen O'Keefe and Nancy Richards of Newburyport, Mass, and 
Mickey Richards of Tewksbury, Mass; paternal great-grandparents, Alma and 
Charles Mertz of Sidney; maternal great-great-grandfather, Donald LaPlante of 
Amesbury, Mass; and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Jamieson 
& Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. Martin Fox and the Rev. Marilyn 
Hardman co-officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery
