Motter, 79, of 1567 Garbry Rd., Piqua, died on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 6:00 pm in the Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home. He was born in Fletcher on May 12,1925 to the late James and Hazel Rector Motter. He married June Shoemaker on June 21,1947 in Piqua; and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gerald Maul of Dayton, Lou and Phil McQueen of Troy, Sandy and Ed Adamson of East Liverpool; five grandchildren; a brother, James Motter Jr., of Piqua; and a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ed Martin of Dayton. Mr. Motter attended Piqua City Schools and then served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired in 1983 as a carpenter for commercial construction. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he served three terms as a Trustee, and the VFW Post #4874. He volunteered at the former Piqua Memorial Medical Center and served on the Board of Directors of the Miami County Recovery Council. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 10:00 am in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Piqua Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 pm in the funeral home.
