September 27.—Mrs. FRANCES M. MEILY ORR, aged 56, wife of General W. P. ORR, died last night at her home in this city of cancer after an illness of many months. Her death had been expected for several days. Mrs. ORR was prominent in social circles, active in philanthropic and church work and devoted to the work of women’s clubs. She had been President of the local Federation and of the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs, a director of the General Federation and was chairman of its educational committee. She was a member of the Piqua board of education, being one of three women board members in Ohio. Her last appearance was on Labor Day at the dedication of the new Favorite Place school, which is a monument to her interest in the schools, being built on the cottage plan at a cost of $30,000. Mrs. ORR was a member of the board of lady managers of the Piqua Memorial Hospital, and was an alumna of the Western College at Oxford, and had served as a member of its board. She was a sister of the late Mrs. CALVIN S. BRICE, Mrs. I. MOTTER and GEORGE MEILY of Lima. She was married to General W. P. ORR in St. Mark’s Chapel, in Westminster Abbey, in London, Eng., March 25, 1884, by the late Archbishop FARRAR.
