Dorothy A. Pickering, 98, of 1567 Garbry Road, Piqua, died at 10:50 a.m. 
Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in Heartland of Piqua Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 21, 1908, in Piqua, to the late Harvey F. and Flora B. 
(Manson) Gilmore. She married Harley C. Pickering on Aug. 18, 1934, in Piqua; 
he preceded her in death on May 16, 1981.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Dennis (Patricia) Pickering of Pittsburg, Kan.; 
two daughters, Deanna (Dale) Ruckle of Piano, Texas and K'Anna (Greg) Black of 
Piqua; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in 
death by two brothers, one half-sister and an infant daughter.
Mrs. Pickering was a 1927 graduate of Piqua Central High School and a 
homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical & 
Reformed Church and its Ideal Loyal Daughters Circle where she served as 
secretary. She also was a member of the YWCA of Piqua, its Forever 39 Club, a 
charter member of the Piqua Lions Auxiliary and an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Jamieson & 
Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank J. Sapp Jr. officiating. Burial will 
follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
