Helen R. Powell, 93, of the Dorothy Love Retirement Center and formerly of 
Piqua and Fletcher, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in her 
residence at Dorothy Love.
She was born May 10, 1913, in Piqua, the daughter of the late Harold and Freda 
(Sauer) Comer. She married Scott Powell on Dec. 26, 1968, and he preceded her 
in death Sept. 8, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy and Gordon Davis of 
Great Falls, Va. and Jill Gooding of Potomac Falls, Va; a stepdaughter and son-
in-law, Marsha and Jim Whiteford of Columbus; five grandchildren; and several 
great-grandchildren.
Helen was a graduate of Piqua High School and attended Miami University. She 
and her husband, Scott, ran Powell's Grocery in Fletcher. She attended the 
Fletcher United Methodist Church, and she liked to play bridge and golf with 
her friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Dorothy Love Chapel, 
2500 N. Kuther Road, Sidney, with Chaplain Keith Matthews presiding. Burial 
will be in Fletcher Cemetery at the convenience of the family
