Lucinda Russell, 94 of Conover and more recently of Alterra of Piqua passed 
away at 10:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2003, in Piqua. She was born in Piqua on 
April 23, 1909, the daughter of the late Abram and Eliza (Dixon) Short. She 
married Vinnedge Russell on June 17,1925 and he preceded her in death on June 
19,1984. She is survived by her daughter Norma Duer of Fletcher; two 
grandchildren; Joe (Melissa) Duer of Tipp City and Karen Patton and Joe 
Rickard of Conover; her great-grandchildren; Wendel (Kimberly) Skinner of 
Kannapolis, N.C., Kevin (Courtney) Skinner of Piqua, Sabra Duer of Troy, and 
Carmony (Dennis) Goecke of New Lebanon, Ohio; and her great-great 
grandchildren Robbi Skinner of Texas and Kayleigh Skinner of Kannapolis, N.C. 
She is also survived by one brother, Richard Short of Covington, brother-in-
law and sister-in-law, James and Naomi Russell of Piqua; two sisters in law; 
Agnes VanHorn of Arkansas and Marvel Arnold of Piqua; several nieces; and 
several nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four 
sisters, four brothers and son-in-law, George Duer. Lucinda was a homemaker 
and a member of Fidelity Chapter O.E.S., Lena and a former member of the Home 
Arts Club of Conover. Friends and family may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, 
Sept. 26, in Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Graveside 
funeral services will follow in Fletcher Cemetery conducted by a grandson, Joe 
Duer
